युनियन /फोर्थ आणि क्लाएड कालवा:
वाहते पाणी मग ते निसर्ग  निर्मित असो किंवा मानव निर्मित .. स्वच्छ पाणी बघण्यात  व त्या बाजूला होणारी परिसंस्था (Ecosystem)/मानवाची वसाहत बघण्याची मजा खूप असते. ब्रिटनच्या औद्योगिक प्रगतीस हि शकडो वर्षाचे  मानव निर्मित कालवे कारणीभूत  आहेत. जुन्या काळात तोच सोईस्कर  दळण वळणाचा मार्ग होतों. रेल्वेच्या जाळ्या नंतर तो थोडा काळ दुर्लक्षीत झाला. पण  आता परत बोट पर्यटना साठी वापरात आले आहेत. अशा ह्या कालव्याचे  कडेने चालताना ब्रिटनचा हिरवा गार 'गावा' कडील भाग डोळ्यांचे पारणे फेडतात. हे सर्व कालवे अनेक लॉक  वापरून   पाणी उंच - सखल भागात  खेळवले आहे तसेच हे लॉक बोटींना दोन वेग वेगळ्या पाणी पातळी वर उचलण्यास किंवा उतरण्यास मदत करतात. युनियन /फोर्थ आणि क्लाएड  हे दोन कालवे   बोटींसाठी  चक्क लिफ्टने जोडले आहेत. हे बोट उचलण्याचे इंजिनिअरेग अद्भुत आहे.

Union and Forth and Clyde Canal :
Watching ecosystem around any water source is fun be it man made or natual. Britain has thousands of km of man made canal.  These canals has important role in British industrial revolution.
Old days it was best route to transport goods. But as railway network became dominant, canals got neglected. But now because of recreational activities,they are used again. Watching green rural Britain while walking is spectacular. Locks took canals up and down hills. These locks can be used to raise or lower boats from one water level to another. But Union and Ford and Clyde canals are connected with actual boat lift. It is spectacular piece of engineering.
